If the engine coolant temp sensor is bad it could give a false signal to the PCM, making it think the engine is hot and causing the message. Since you aren't overheating I don't see any reason not to drive the truck until you get home and can visit the dealer.

However, once that upper threshold of the "normal" range is breached, it's not always a catastrophic event for the engine and there are different "levels" of running hotter than normal.
