WebFirst measure the resistance between the primary wire that comes from the CDI box and the ground or ground wire. The resistance should measure around .5 to 1.5 Ohms. If that checks out, you can then measure the resistance between the secondary wire (plug wire), w hich should measure in the thousands. WebThe plug is made out of a rubber compound like an oil seal. Over the years of heating and cooling the rubber gets brittle and shrinks a bit. Then, the oil in the primary seeps between the plug and the engine case. This is common but it does not effect the operation of the stator. To stop the leak, you usually have to replace the stator. Good Luck WebSep 3, 2013 · Clean the plug and hole it goes into with brake cleaner. Apply black silicone to the outside of the stator plug and push back into the hole. Replace the primary cover, and after the silicone is dry, refill the primary. WebSep 24, 2016 · I had the same oil leak around the primary stator wire plug on 2010 Ultra that started around 50k miles. I first tried o-rings. The first o-ring was a bit too narrow so I put in a fatter one. This only slowed down the oil drips. I then removed the o-ring and cleaned the area good with brake cleaner and used black silicone around the plug.
