WebJan 27, 2003 · It flunked a high-voltage breakdown test. The vacuum was contaminated, commonly referred to as a "gassy" tube. If it were installed in an amplifier and keyed, there would have been a loud "POW". I suggest either 1) using a tube you can replace for under $1000, or 2) getting this one tested BEFORE you spend the money to put it on the air. The pulse version of the 4-1000's would handle this fine, but you needed to watch the pin temperature so not to melt the lower temp glass around them.
